How to Make a SEO Friendly Website

Creating a visual aided website doesn’t mean that your website will perform well online. The common myth is that “Build the website, and my business will work great on internet”, but in a real situation it is actually next to impossible.

To reach your target audience you must make your website search engine friendly. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a process of increasing your visibility on search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and others.

There are some points to remember to make a seo friendly website listed below:

SEO Friendly URL

A URL must be meaningful to search engines. Search engines uses spiders to crawl websites. So it is easier to understand for these spiders what content you are going to provide with your web page if URL structure is meaningful.

By making dynamic/CMS websites some people disadvantage themselves immediately.

Here’s a example:

www.yourwebsite.com/p=45

As you can see by this URL neither spiders nor human beings are able to understand what content this URL going to serve.

www.yourwebsite.com/an-article-about-seo

The first link is dynamic and nobody is able to understand what this URL going to serve, but the second one is static and user-friendly for the users and also seo-friendly for Google.

Keyword Analysis

Keywords are important part of any SEO campaign. If you are not including relevant keyword with your content then Google may never find it – however useful it is.

The Google Adwords Keyword Planner is a great tool to search for the keywords / phrases in your line of business and check the competition to get a rank for it.

Once you completed your analysis you need to include these keywords to following areas:

  • Page Title
  • Headings
  • Meta Tags
  • URL
  • Image Name and “alt” tag

Optimize Image

Include optimized images to your site to make it SEO friendly. People concentrate on the images which is looking good to the site, but not look for the optimization of that image. However it is necessary to keep some points in mind while including some photo element to your website.

  • Keep your file sizes small – you can use photo editor like Photoshop to reduce your file sizes by reducing dimension and quality. This will help your site to reduce loading time and give a more optimal experience to your users.
  • Use “alt” and “title” tags – you need to use your relevant keywords as “alt” and “title” tags, which will help spiders to crawl the content of the images.
  • Make sure keywords are relevant to the content of the page.

Create a XML sitemap

XML sitemaps are different from HTML sitemaps. We can see HTML sitemaps on many sites which is only use for the easy navigation for its users. But XML sitemap is a structured list of URLs intended for search engines, to help spiders to find all your pages and index them more easily.
